Back to Los Angeles?

This will be my last summer going back to Los Angeles before I graduate. I am excided to see my family and friends but at the same time knowing that graduation day is getting closer and closer can be very intimidating, specially because I am not sure if I want to move back to Los Angeles after I graduate. I think that moving away from home to come to ASU made me realize that there are a lot of places to explore and I think I want to continue doing that. I never really traveled a lot before I started college and now that I am older I see things a little bit different, every time I go home I see things in a whole different way. I see things that I like and sometimes even miss when I’m away too long, but I also see things that can be improved. I first realized this after my freshman year in college; I spent about seven months here in Arizona before I got to visit California again and when I did it felt different. Even when I got home it felt like it wasn’t my house, I got so used to living by myself that staying with my family again, even for a couple of days, made me feel out of place.

I will always go back and visit my loved ones but for now I’m still not sure of where I want to live after I graduate.

  1. I appreciate that you wrote "made me feel out of place" instead of writing, what I would probably write, "after staying with family again, they drive me crazier than ever!!!" ;) In all seriousness, good for you for broadening your horizons and branching out. You only live once (at least I think so) and the world has so much to offer, as you've clearly figured out.

  2. Eduardo,

I can totally appreciate your struggle about trying to figure out where you should live after graduation. It's a huge step, either way, and one that will seriously impact you. But, it has also got to be super exciting to have the chance to be out on your own and explore the world and discover where you really want to be, what you want to do, and such. Good luck in your endeavors as you graduate soon!

  3. Hey Eduardo,
I can totally relate, I am from Los Angeles too and I graduate in May and still cannot decide if I want to stay in Arizona or go back. The cost of living in Los Angeles is crazy and I agree with you that there are so many other places to explore. Also so much opportunity in Arizona makes me want to possibly stay here for atleast a few years and save up....plus I cannot go back to living with the parents :( lol

  4. I know what you mean! I am from a small town and go back maybe twice a year. When I go back I always ask my parents if this is how it has always looked.. The buildings are so old and everything is so ran down. The mountains and scenery are always beautiful. I think that when I was going up I didn't know the difference and now that I live in a city that is always changing and upgrading and know that I have more knowledge in public service that is why it sticks out to me. Have fun in LA this summer!

  5. Eduardo,

I totally know what you mean. I usually go back home to spend time with my friends, but it does feel kind of awkward because it doesn't feel like home anymore. I'm actually in the same boat as you because I don't know what to do since our last semester is right around the corner, but we still have plenty of time to make up our minds and decide what we really want to do. Hope you have a great summer. I wish you the best of luck next semester and in your future endeavors.
