Leadership in TRIO

I would say that leadership plays a huge role in my internship and in TRIO as a whole. As intern and student workers we are always encouraged to take initiative in many different ways, we are each part of individual committees designed to plan different events throughout the year as well as improve the way we manage data internally among other things. We try our best to make students feel welcome when they walk into our office so as student workers we are always trying to decorate the office with different themes every month, this month the theme is Pac-Man. I am also part of the data committee which means that for the most part I am in charge of makings sure that all the student files are up to date.

            As academic coaches it is also very important to stay in contact with all the students we were assigned to at the beginning of the semester. Sometimes as freshman they might feel lost and confused when navigating the university so we try to always be available for them in case they need us. We have very few limitations regarding how the meetings need to be conducted so I try to relate to other students as much as I can so they can be more confortable and actually want to come talk to me again.
